Lithuanian Photographers Association in collaboration with Nida Art Colony invite lens-based artists and photographers to apply for an artist residency programme in Nida. This residency is also a part of the international photography symposium ‘NIDA – Meeting photography’. The aim of it is to reflect on the site-specific ecosystems and the changing boundaries of photography, to actualise photography both as a medium and as a means of expression. The programme seeks to attract artists with a critical mindset towards using their production tools, questioning the cultural discourse of their practice as well as having a strong socio-political mindset.
The residency participant is expected to create site-specific work, but artists will also be able to continue their work in progress if it can somehow be connected with the place. Photography can be used in a very broad sense – from its usual use to a material as a matter of creation.
The authors freely choose the topic, work technique and subject after discussing technical issues with residency providers. Submissions must be photographic or lens-based but can include incorporations of other art forms with the photographic medium (i.e. performance, painting, sculpture etc).
The duration of the residency is one month –1-31 May 2023. The selected artist will be paid a one-time grant of 600 EUR. Travel costs will be covered up to 300 EUR, and housing is provided. In addition, technical measures, printing of works, digitisation, etc. is covered up to 300 EUR, subject to agreement.
