The choir Polifonija is calling for applications from composers under the age of 35 from Lithuania and Poland for their international creative laboratory – residency ‘Regina Libertas Vol. 2’, to be held in Šiauliai, Lithuania, from 5 to 10 May 2025.
The choir invites composers from Lithuania and Poland to participate in this unique project, where they will create a choral composition for a mixed choir based on the Latin poetry of M. K. Sarbievijus.
During the residency participants will work with the professional choir Polifonija, receive valuable consultations from experienced music lecturers, and have the opportunity to refine their compositions during the real-time creative process.
The residency will include creative workshops, lectures, and discussions, culminating in a final event where participant’s music will be fused with authentic Baroque dance elements, performed by the historical dance ensemble Baltoji Pavana. This project will become a multi-disciplinary artistic experience, resulting in a complete concert programme dedicated to M. K. Sarbievijus.
The new compositions created during the residency in May will be presented in Lithuania in June 2025.
The organiser will cover travel expenses for selected participants (up to 200 EUR), provide accommodation, and pay per diems.
