Halaqat invites photographers to apply for a three-month residency in Cairo from 15 September to 15 December 2025, hosted at the Goethe-Institut’s White Villa. The residency supports artistic projects exploring the themes of care and gender, offering time, space, and resources for reflection, creation, and exchange.
The call is open to individual photographers based in Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and EU member states. Groups or collectives are not eligible.
The residency schedule is planned to provide multiple opportunities, and the organisers strongly recommend that artists do not miss any part of the residency. However, in limited circumstances, artists may be able to participate for a minimum of 10 weeks.
Selected artists will receive:
- A grant of 2,950 EUR for a 3-month residency (travel cost 550 EUR and per diem 800 EUR/month)
- Production costs up to 500 EUR
- Showcasing preparation up to 250 EUR
- Family top-up for artists with family responsibilities: on a case-by-case basis.
- Accessibility top-up for artists with special needs (e.g. disability): on a case-by-case basis.
- Visa top-up: refund of real cost
