Future Female Sounds is a non-profit organisation, community, and a booking agency founded in Copenhagen in 2017, with the mission of making DJ culture accessible to women and gender minorities globally. They provide women and gender minority DJs with skills, access and community building within the music industry.
They are now inviting applications to join in the European Female DJ Summit. This two day summit focused exclusively on female and gender minority DJs (non-binary, trans women, trans men and femme-identifying) from the European Union, will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark 9-11 June 2021.
The European Female DJ Summit is supported by The European Union (Creative Europe programme) and includes a survey, a summit, and a Digital DJ Guide.
The summit is produced by Future Female Sounds in partnership with female:pressure and SheSaidSo, and will focus on boosting talent and leveraging skills within the disciplines of business, economics, management, digital skills, and visibility for DJs. Together, attendees will be exploring the European music sector, trends in bookings, and digital presence with a focus on highlighting and strengthening the position of female, non-binary, and gender minority DJs.
Activities will include keynote speeches, round table discussion, master classes, and workshops, mentoring, and networking with emphasis on providing support and education on the subject of gender disparities within the music and events industry. The aim of the summit is to create a strong and supportive network within the European music industry, advocating for change in structural gender inequality. The knowledge generated from the summit will be presented in a free-for-all Digital DJ Guide.
The summit includes conversations about intersectionality, hereunder class, race, and gender perspectives on, and from, women, gender minorities, femme, non-binary, transmen and transwomen, as well as discussions about sexual harassment, the gender pay gap and more. Please only apply if you feel comfortable contributing to this forum.
Successful applicants will have their return flights, hotel stay, breakfast and lunch covered.
