The Croatian Circus Residency Network invites artists and collectives of contemporary circus and related performing arts to apply for their residency for works in the production phase.
Through the Open call ‘Circus Residential Network’ seven Croatian partners from six different cities open their spatial and human resources for artistic residences of regional circus artists. The Call aims to contribute to the development of the regional circus scene by supporting works from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and Kosovo.
The Call is open to all circus, dance, acting, new media and interdisciplinary ideas and emerging works.
The Circus Residential Network plans to support a total of six residencies in an individual duration of a maximum of 15 days, to be held by the end of 2024 in the following locations:
- Cirkobalkana circus tent (Zagreb)
- Mala scena of the Youth Center (Split)
- Gallery and performance-stage hall Filodrammatica (Rijeka)
- Klub Kulture (Križevci)
- Čarobnjakov šešir (Pula)
- Kuća Klajn (Klanjec)
It is possible to apply for the same residency project in several different venues and/or cities. One person can be a co-author in several submitted projects.
Starting this year, the selected projects will have additional support in the form of a laboratory with Darragh McLaughlin (Squarehead Productions) and production and distribution support from Antonia Kuzmanić (ROOM 100). The laboratory will take place in Split from 29 April to 5 May 2024 in the Youth Center, in a space managed by Circus Collective.
The network provides travel expenses, accommodation, workspace, organisation of a work-in-progress performance, technical conditions for residency and performance and media visibility. In case of additional financial support from the City Offices for Culture of the cities where the organisations operate, the Circus Residential Network will provide per diems and/or fees for selected artists.
