O Castro Art Village: Residency in Abandoned Rural Settlement 2026 (Spain)

O Castro Art Village on a photo of hills, buildings and a lake.

O Castro Art Village is an abandoned rural settlement in the Ribeira Sacra, Galicia. The ruins amplify, absorb, and transform sound in ways no built studio can replicate. The organisation is inviting applications from sound artists or musicians, architects and visual/mixed-media artists to participate in a 30-day residency in October 2026.

October changes this place: the forest floor softens with rain, migrating birds pass through, the valley fills with morning fog. Artists will be recording in a landscape at the height of its seasonal transition. The artists will produce an installation in the space, which remains after the artists’ departure.

Artists will be mentored by filmmaker Davoud Gerami, and live in a climate-controlled geodesic dome with a full bathroom inside the forest.
