L’Art Rue > Call for Creation Residencies 2020

L’Art Rue, a Tunisian association carrying out citizens’ and innovative art projects in public spaces, is opening its workplace to support the young contemporary artistic scene of the Middle East and Africa.

There will be two residency sessions, with applications welcome for either or both sessions. The first will take place from September to December 2020, and the second from January to April 2021. Regardless of which session(s) artists attend, all successful applicants must also participate in a thinking laboratory, taking place 5-18 October 2020.

Conditions:

  • These residencies are for young professional artists or aspiring professional artists under 35 years old.

  • All artistic fields are eligible.

  • All applicants must be artists living in or native of MENA or Africa.

  • Candidates may apply as individuals or as a group.

  • All artistic projects must be engaged with a contextual artistic approach, that is to say projects developed for or with the Tunisian context.

  • Applicants must aim for high artistic standards.

  • Candidates should be fully available for a three-month period and for the first two weeks of October 2020 to take part in an artistic exchange and thinking laboratory.

  • Art projects developed during the residency period will be presented to the public.

Association L’Art Rue will provide the artists with:

  • A workplace.

  • Technical equipment available at L’Art Rue.

  • Access to the expertise of L’Art Rue’s team.

  • Fees for the three-month contextual creation residency.

  • Production costs.

  • Accommodation in the organisation’s workplace in the medina of Tunis.

  • Per diem.

  • A round trip for the artist from/to his/her place of residence to Tunis.
