Contact Improvisation Dance Workshop and Laboratory 2025 (Romania)

The programme ‘Skin, flesh, bones, ideas’ is a professional and artistic development workshop and laboratory, organised by PETEC and its partners, between 4 and 10 August 2025, in Ballet Studio, situated in the village of Dealu-Mare, Cluj County, Romania.

The programme invites dancers that have relevant experience with Contact Improvisation to deepen their practice in a Research Laboratory on Contact Improvisation, Poetic Movement and writing.

The programme for the week will be: a Contact Improvisation through Poetic Movement workshop led by Stephen Batts in the first part of the day and a Writing Laboratory on Dance guided by Adrianna Michalska in the second part of the day. The resulting texts will be edited and published after the Laboratory in an art Zine and other media platforms of the project.

The organisers are looking for professional dancers and experienced amateurs that already work with Contact Improvisation and are also interested in theory of dance. The Laboratory will be held in English.

There are five scholarship spots: each of the five participants will receive a participation scholarship of 2,500 RON gross as well as accommodation and food.

The scholarship is for applicants with minimum three years of working professionally with Contact Improvisation as one the main dance practice. After the participation the organisers will request teaching a class or writing an article on dance.
