Bioart Society: Managing Director Job (Finland)

Bioart Society is looking for a Managing Director starting from October 2024 or as agreed. As the Managing Director of the Bioart Society, the sucessful candidate will work amidst a wide range of practitioners from the fields of arts and science, contemporary art, science and technology and environmental humanities.

Bioart Society is seeking a professional who is interested in strategically developing the Society’s operations in the long-term in line with the association’s values. The goals for the coming years include stabilising the society’s activities in the project space SOLU Space in Helsinki, planning new projects with international partners, and strengthening the association’s finances. The sucessful candidate will work in close collaboration with the Artistic Director to link the operational management with the artistic vision and will be supported by a committed board and a knowledgeable team.

The candidate should have the following:

  • Interest in promoting the value of contemporary art practice, particularly the field of arts and science
  • Previous experience of arts management (incl. fundraising, budgeting and financial management, and reporting and evaluation)
  • Responsible and proactive leader, with experience of managing a team
  • Experience on art or event production
  • Be a collaborative team member with a hands-on approach to producing the association’s activities
  • Ability to build partnerships locally, nationally and internationally
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English and Finnish and/or Swedish (Society’s working language is English)
  • Enjoys working with people

The position is 80% (four full days) with the possibility of starting 40% the first two months. The employment begins earliest in October 2024. Working hours are flexible. The job includes occasional evening and weekend work, as well as occasional business trips. The salary is 2,900 EUR gross monthly (based on a gross full-time salary of 3,625 EUR per month). The position is permanent, with a probationary period of three months. The office is located in Helsinki.
