Aomori Contemporary Art Centre’s artist residency programme offers contemporary artists, curators, researchers and others who are involved in cultural and artistic endeavours the opportunity to practice exhibitions, performances, workshops, talks and other activities, with ACAC providing assistance every step of the way from the planning stage and research to installation, presentation and archiving. For the international programme, non-Japanese artists can apply either for a one-month artist-in-residence programme in Japan during the period from 8 September – 14 December 2022, or a remote programme with a maximum period of around three months.
For remote participation, ACAC will provide 75,000 JPY (~ 585 EUR) for production expenses they deem necessary (including costs for materials, research, transportation, display, removal of the exhibition, etc.). For in-person participation, ACAC provides living expenses of 59,400 JPY (~465 EUR) per term, 40,000 JPY (~310 EUR) per term for production expenses, accommodation, and up to 150,000 JPY for travel expenses (~1100 EUR), with additional funding available for exhibition/event delivery.
Applications are open to individuals and groups, though groups receive the same level of support as an individual.
