LIS Lab Performing Arts - in collaboration with Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo and Ricola - announces the sixth edition of the ‘International CROSS award’ for artists and companies in the field of performing arts and music, with particular attention to original productions focused on the close interaction between artistic creation and environment, understood as landscape, territory or community.

The CEI Award for Writers in Residence is an award aimed at encouraging cross-border cooperation and promotion in the field of literature for young writers from the CEI Member States (Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine). The award supports the winner to make a one-month stay in a CEI Member State of their choosing, anytime in 2021. Writers from all genres under the age of 35 from the CEI Member States are eligible. Funded by the Netherlands’ Research Organization, the IMAGINART project explores the role of socially engaged art in reinventing failing public institutions and social structures. Three PhD positions are being made available at University of Amsterdam for researchers to work within the IMAGINART project. Each of these positions has a geographic focus – Hungary; Lebanon and Palestine/West Bank; and Italy – and will involve extensive field work. The projected start date is 1 September 2020. The Evakahan Foundation is inviting applications for a 1-3 month creative residencies in San Sano, Tuscany. The residencies will take place between October 2020 and May 2021. The Foundation expects to focus on receiving artists from the Central European region. Deadline: 1 September 2020.

LOOP is a platform dedicated to the study and promotion of the moving image. As a member of the international collaboration A-Place, it is organising a first open call to commission a video production to investigate the process of creating a sense of place in one of the six cities participating in the project (Barcelona, Bologna, Brussels, Lisbon, Ljubljana and Nicosia). The created video will be shown in the 2020 edition of the LOOP Festival in Barcelona at the end of October. Deadline: 27 April 2020.

The 16th edition of Festival Opera Prima will take place 10-13 September 2020 in Rovigo, Italy. The festival is calling for entries from Italian and international groups or artists that practice experimental theatre in the sense of experimenting with: a scenic language separate from text-based work; a redefinition of the scenic space; the reformulation of the role and the gaze of the spectator; an original actors’ training; or a deep connection between the actors, the company and its poetic style. Deadline: 31 March 2020.

Organised by Kyber Theatre, the 7th Edition of the International Theatre, Art and New Technologies Festival ‘The Wonders of Possible’ will take place in Cagliari, Italy during November 2020. The current open call, addressed to Italian and international artists, is for projects on the topic of ‘Interaction between arts and technology’. Participation is open to artists working individually, or in a group of maximum 5 people. Deadline: 15 May 2020.

The Cultural and Creative Spaces and Cities (CCSC) project offers travel support for 9 cultural policy makers, public administration representatives, researchers and cultural and creative practitioners to participate in three Policy Co-Creative events. The events are taking place in Naples, Italy (15-16 May 2020); Amsterdam, The Netherlands (15-17 June 2020); and Ghent, Belgium (15-17 September 2020). Deadline: 8 March 2020.

Taking place in Napoli, Italy, Altofest sees international artists and citizens living together for two weeks. Artists are housed by local citizens and engage in a process of ‘translating’ an existing work to their host’s home spaces. The next edition of the festival will take place 24 June – 5 July 2020, and is seeking proposals from artists of any age or nationality working in the live arts (theatre, dance, performance, experimental and interdisciplinary formats). Deadline: 29 February 2020.

Santarcangelo dei Teatri is calling for proposals for the Artistic Direction of Santarcangelo Festival, a contemporary performing arts, and one of the most significant in the European world of theatre and dance. The Artistic Direction contract will be for three years, covering the 2021, 2022 and 2023 editions. Deadline: 10 February 2020.

The 15th edition of the international festival Presente Futuro will take place 14-16 May 2020. Organised by Teatro Libero of Palermo, the festival includes several awards for young/emerging contemporary creation in the field of the performing arts (theatre, dance, dance theatre, physical theatre, performance). The organisers are calling for artists, companies and teams coming from the EU – and preferably under 35 – to propose a performing arts project not shorter than 20 minutes for the festival.
