Vitlycke: Contemporary Dancers for New Work for on Concept of ‘Home’ (Sweden, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Romania)

Four people dancing in a line, with arms moving in front of them, with the text of the call.

Vitlycke – Centre for Performing Arts (CPA) is inviting dancers to join a new contemporary dance performance created by choreographer Francesco Scavetta (IT/SE), within the Creative Europe project ‘Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery’.

The production will explore the emotional relationship to the concept of ‘home’ as a metaphor for identity and as a microcosm of the world, where constantly thresholds are traced, and boundaries broken; the place where to welcome and where to close the door and be by ourselves, where to rediscover daily rituals, embodying a physical cartography that keeps transforming in front of our eyes.

Vitlycke – CPA is looking for contemporary dancers, with strong improvisation and performative skills, interested in working in the project. Auditions are for artists based in project partner countries and they are now calling for those based in Hungary and Romania for the following auditions:

  • 7 – 8 December 2024: Bucharest, Romania (Centrul Național al Dansului București (CNDB)
  • 14 – 15 December 2024: Budapest, Hungary (Esma Studio in the SÍN Arts Centre)

The approximate rehearsal periods are during the period of May/mid-June 2025 and 1 – 14 September 2025. The rehearsals will take place in residency at Vitlycke – CPA, Sweden. The work will premier in the next edition of the International Performing Arts Festival HERE:2025 (14 September 2025) and it will tour to Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland and Romania (with a minimum five performances) in late October/November 2025.

Beyond Front@: Bridging Periphery covers travel, subsistence and accommodation costs of dancers related to rehearsals, premiere in Vitlycke – CPA and tour in partner countries. Artists receive a fee of 6,500 EUR for the work.
