steirischer herbst festival based in Graz and Styria, Austria, is looking for a Head of Artistic Projects to start from 1 January 2023.
Areas of responsibility:
- Overseeing all production processes from curatorial and artistic perspectives, in close and constant dialogue with the director / chief curator; working closely with curators, the head of production, and the CFO.
- Exchange with departments, streamlining, coordination of all processes.
- Feasibility assessments for new productions, supervising curatorial conversations regarding realisation, together with the head of production.
- Management tasks in the realisation of key projects in direct contact with the director / chief curator and artists, curators, and the head of production / production managers.
- Overseeing contracting process with artists, venues, partners.
- Budget responsibility and negotiating of budgets with artists, co-producers, and others.
- Supervising and executive position regarding the Parallel Program of the festival.
- Overseeing art handling capacities, implementation of exhibition projects.
- Supporting the director / chief curator in the communication and meetings with local institutions in Graz and Styria, strong local presence.
- Strategic approach to positioning the festival in Graz, local connections and cooperations.
- Proactive outreach to international institutions and funding bodies.
- Strategic planning together with the director / chief curator of the following recurring issues: festival structure, venues, visual presence in town, festival opening ceremony, ticketing politics, community spaces (herbstbar, Visitor and Press Center, etc.), documentation and organisation, Parallel Program and partners, projects in Styria, strategic audience development, etc.
- Supporting the director / chief curator in all institutional matters related to strategy, production, documentation, archiving, and outreach.
Salary: 3500 EUR gross based on 40h/week, overpayment according to qualifications and experience.
