In the framework of European Theatre Convention’s (ETC) Digital Theatre Programme, Théâtre de Liège, Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, and the Academy for Theatre and Digitality Dortmund are collaborating to support the Belgian theatre group .jpeg collective in their upcoming production, Toutes les beautés du monde.
For this production, the organisers are looking for a Creative Technologist to collaborate closely with .jpeg collective and set up a specific system tailored to the show.
During a 3-week research residency at the Academy for Theatre and Digitality in Dortmund (between September and December 2025), the Creative Technologist has the task of developing a system that combines:
- live motion capture of 1 or 2 actors using a Rokoko suite on stage
- rigging human skeleton movements onto non-human skeleton movements (animals)
- live 3D-animated video with cue-based changes
- live usage of machine learning-based image effects on the 3D animated video
- projection mapping of video material, preferably using QLab
- connecting all elements described above, for example with NDI
There may be a requirement for the selected Creative Technologist to be available for several days in February 2026, to participate in the implementation phase during the final rehearsals of the performance.
The selected Creative Technologist will receive a remuneration of up to 4,500 EUR (depending on experience) for the three-week research residency. ETC covers travel, accommodation, and subsistence costs of up to 2,230 EUR for the period of the research residency.
