Cirkus Kolektiv has announced an opportunity for artists and collectives working in contemporary circus and outdoor arts. They are looking for artists for the Outdoor Art Lab residency programme in Split, Croatia, for two weeks between January and October 2027.
The residency programme seeks to foster outdoor exploration and creation within contemporary circus and outdoor arts. By focusing on public spaces and their specific contexts, it hopes to encourage a unique approach to artistic expression that is currently underrepresented in Croatia. The Outdoor Art Lab residency programme can foster a vibrant dialogue between artists, local communities, and the urban landscape, ultimately reimagining Split’s public spaces as places of connection and creativity.
The residency is primarily focused on exploration and experimentation. There is no requirement to create or premiere a final product. The goal is to provide artists with a space to delve into new ideas and encourage the development of an outdoor creation that directly refers to the performance space and is shaped by it.
Cirkus Kolektiv invites all artists and collectives from Europe working in the fields of contemporary circus, outdoor arts or related disciplines to apply, regardless of their level of experience.
Provided:
- 14-day residency in Split, Croatia
- Production support
- Audience discussions and moderation

Depending on the development of the residency, there may be an opportunity to present work during the Split Calling Festival in October 2027.
Each selected artist or collective will receive financial support of up to 1,000 EUR to cover travel, accommodation, and production costs. Additional funding may be available.
