UNESCO is hosting an event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions on 20 June 2025 in Paris, from 2pm to 8:30pm.

Marking two decades since the adoption of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, the global celebration at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris brings together stakeholders from across the 158 Parties to the Convention. Taking place right after the 10th Conference of Parties, the anniversary celebration is both a moment of reflection and a forward-looking platform. It will explore the Convention’s evolving role in today’s world and serve as a key milestone on the road to MONDIACULT 2025 in Barcelona.

The event will feature high-level discussions on protecting cultural diversity in the digital environment, ensuring equitable access to cultural goods and services, and promoting fundamental rights such as artistic freedom, gender equality, and inclusion. Audiences will also enjoy live artistic and musical performances that highlight the richness and diversity of cultural expressions from around the world. On the Move Secretary General Marie Le Sourd will be speaking at the event with Luanda Smith, Creatividad y Cultura Glocal A.C. and Natalia Grincheva, Programme Leader for BA Arts Management at LASALLE, University of the Arts Singapore. The moderation will be ensured by Véronique Guèvremont, Professor in the Faculty of Law at Laval University, Member of UNESCO-EU Expert Facility. The event will also be livestreamed and recorded.

The dedicated web site for the 20th anniversary celebration has also been updated to include details on the global celebration, and will continue to be updated afterwards with photos and the video recording of the conference and performances.
