    Soil Futures: Residency Exchange for Artists from UK, Palestine and Italy
    The Soil Futures Residency Exchange is an initiative between Arts Catalyst, RIWAQ, Sakiya and Vessel Art Project, for artists to undertake a six-week residency that will take place within the period from October – December 2022. UK based artists can apply for a residency at Sakiya - Art/Science/Agriculture (Palestine). Palestine based artists can apply for a residency at Vessel Art Project (Italy). Italy based artists can apply for a residency at RIWAQ (Palestine).

    Mahmoud Darwish Chair, Bozar, A. M. Qattan Foundation, Camargo Foundation and Mucem join forces for an open call honouring the legacy of the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. Selected applicants will undertake a 4-week residency in one of three locations – Camargo / Mucem in France, A. M. Qattan Foundation in Palestine, and Bozar / Darwish Chair in Belgium – from July 2021 to July 2022. Applications are welcome from all countries and nationalities that compose the MENA Region and its Diaspora.

    The Octopus Programme is a guided research-based educational programme that encourages artistic research across sectors. The call for the next phase of the programme is open to all Diploma Students, Master’s and PhD students at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design Stockholm, as well as artists from or based in South Africa, Palestine and Tunisia. Applicants should have oral and written proficiency in English and be able to travel abroad twice between June 2021 and June 2022 (5 to 7 days).

    Funded by the Netherlands’ Research Organization, the IMAGINART project explores the role of socially engaged art in reinventing failing public institutions and social structures. Three PhD positions are being made available at University of Amsterdam for researchers to work within the IMAGINART project. Each of these positions has a geographic focus – Hungary; Lebanon and Palestine/West Bank; and Italy – and will involve extensive field work. The projected start date is 1 September 2020.     Birzeit University’s Faculty of Art, Music and Design is offering a residency opportunity for a creative practitioner in one of its programmes: ‘Contemporary Visual Art’ or ‘Design’.     Each year the Everyday Forms of Resistance programme offers residencies for six visual artists, using the medium of cultural exchange to reflect on the role of artistic practice and mobility in the specific circumstances of Ramallah and Palestine. Artists from Belgium, Finland, and Poland can apply for a three-month residency in Ramallah (June - August 2020). Palestinian artists can apply for three-month residencies in Warsaw (June - August 2020), Antwerp (July - September 2020) or Helsinki (September - November 2020). Deadline: 31 January 2020.
