    Santuri East Africa and Ajabu Ajabu: Uvumbuzi Music Residency (Tanzania / Kenya)
    Santuri East Africa and Ajabu Ajabu supported by a grant from Ignite Culture: ACP-EU Culture Programme (Eastern Africa) are excited to announce an opportunity for East African musicians to participate in a unique music residency program called Uvumbuzi, bridging the creative landscapes of Dar es Salaam and Nairobi. For an intensive two week period in November, Kenyan artists will be hosted by Ajabu Ajabu in Dar Es Salaam (30t October – 12 November 2023), and Tanzanian artists will be hosted by Santuri in Nairobi (13-27 November 2023).

The exhibitions will be part of the Sasa Nairobi exhibition series, the Goethe-Institut’s main programme in visual art focusing on conceptual work in all media, with an emphasis on photography, video, installation, and performance art.

    In the kulturweit Tandem project, two participants – one from an African country and one from Germany – reappraise the history of colonialism and its effects on the present. Together you develop anti-racism projects that you can implement in theatres, museums and schools, in charities, initiatives or companies in Germany. The first round of the programme will take place between September 2022 and February 2023. You can apply if you live in Germany, Ghana, Cameroon, Kenya, Namibia or Togo.

    ZK/U: Curatorial Research Residencies for Emerging Curators and Cultural Practitioners (Germany, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria)
    Starting in September 2021, ZK/U Berlin, G.A.S in Lagos, Bag Factory in Johannesburg and NCAI Nairobi, will host a new research residency programme with a focus on curatorial practices, the TURN2 RESIDENCIES. The programme facilitates research for emerging curators and cultural practitioners with curatorial experience (visual arts, cross-disciplinary) either from the African continent to come to Berlin, or from Germany to come to Johannesburg, Lagos or Nairobi to explore the vibrant cultural scenes as a starting point for sustainable curatorial exchanges.
