The non-profit organisation Bela, initiated by SACD Belgium and Scam Belgium, aims to create opportunities for authors across all fields (writing, sound, audiovisual, performing arts, and multimedia) by fostering dialogue with their peers, audiences, and cultural sector partners. The goal is to build a virtuous circle of creation that encourages curiosity, connections, and the mutual exchange of best practices, in Belgium and beyond. To achieve this, Bela manages a platform dedicated to creation and its professions, conducts studies (such as a study on the socio-economic situation of book authors in Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles), offers training through its Belacademy, and since 2023 has been developing a European hub within the MEDAA (European House of Authors), where its offices are located.
