Neimënster: Residency and Exhibition on the Theme of ‘Seeds’ (Luxembourg)

A red circular shape with green in the middle on a dark background.

To widen the scope of the upcoming exhibition ‘Graine’ by Thierry Ardouin, neimënster is looking for an artistic project in development that concentrates on the seed, either literally (its form, shape, and usage) or conceptually (for example, the beginning of growth and development).

The work, created during the three-week residency (3–21 February 2025) in Luxembourg, will be exhibited alongside the photographic works by Thierry Ardouin and represent a local point of view. A successful applicant will present a project with a strong tie to the subject matter and/or a creative interpretation of the seed.

The exhibition ‘Graines’ (1 April – 30 May 2025) thematises the seed. Highly aesthetic close-up photographs of different seeds on stark black backgrounds by Thierry Ardouin invite the viewer to encounter these tiny natural specs in a new light. But what can something so small tell us about our relationship with nature, food production, consumption, and even economy? This exhibition highlights the impact of the smallest of agricultural units and its big impact on Luxembourg and Europe.

In the pursuit to reduce neimënster’s carbon footprint, projects from Europe, or as part of a European tour, are prioritised.

The selected artist will receive a 3,000 EUR grant and a 1,500 EUR production budget. An artist studio in neimënster will be at their disposal during the three-week residency.
