The Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU) is looking to fill the position of a Lecturer in the Art in Context Programme (STUDIO Course). This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position and is intended for graduates of art universities.
The STUDIO Course is the central component of AVU’s English-taught, studio-based Master’s Programme Art in Context at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. It is conceived as a course where students develop artistic practices rooted in real-world contexts. Emphasis is placed on collaboration, participation, and responsiveness to diverse cultural, historical, and social environments. The course encourages students to engage with communication across differences through contemporary art.
The position involves teaching at Master’s level, potential supervision of PhD candidates, and active participation in the academic, research, and administrative development of the programme in collaboration with the Head of Programme.
This is a full-time position (equivalent to 40 hours per week) that includes teaching, tutoring, assessment and administrative duties, with a teaching load of 12–14 contact hours per week.
Working conditions:
- Initial one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal for an additional two years based on peer-review
- Assistant professor rank: gross salary of 36,000 CZK / month plus a 15,000 CZK / month relocation allowance for a non-resident candidate
