With TANZRECHERCHE x SPRUNGBRETT, the NRWKS and the tanz NRW festival are offering a production-independent research grant comprising a two-week residency from 26 April to 10 May 2027 in North Rhine-Westphalia, followed by participation in the tanz nrw 27 festival from 12 to 23 May 2027.
This open call is aimed at two groups of applicants from the fields of dance, choreography and performance:
- Call 1: Emerging artists from North Rhine-Westphalia
- Call 2: International choreographers and dance artists from abroad
TANZRECHERCHE × SPRUNGBRETT offers a research grant that enables an in-depth exploration of a research topic or the development and testing of new artistic formats. The focus is on promoting process-oriented working methods and exploratory practice within a specific local context.
TANZRECHERCHE × SPRUNGBRETT combines the international research programme Tanzrecherche NRW (Dance Research NRW) run by the NRW KULTURsekretariat with the support for emerging artists provided by the tanz nrw festival. This collaborative initiative brings international inspiration to North Rhine-Westphalia, facilitates research residencies within professional structures and strengthens exchange with the North Rhine-Westphalian dance scene.
What is offered:
- Research grant of 5,000 EUR per residency
- A two-week residency in Wuppertal or Essen at the respective festival partners, for 1–2 persons
- Use of the venue’s resources and dramaturgical advice and organisational support
- Coverage of travel costs calculated
- Coverage of accommodation costs and support with accommodation during the festival period
- Documentation/material budget upon agreement
