Fundación Camila Cañeque/BAR project: Residency Programme 2026 (Spain)

A big house in an open plain.

The Fundación Camila Cañeque Residency Programme supports artistic, curatorial, writing and research-based practices grounded in critical thinking, conceptual exploration and open-ended inquiry. In 2026, Fundación Camila Cañeque and BAR project present an international open call for one six-week residency (8 October to 20 November 2026) at Mas Verd, Fundación Camila Cañeque’s residence in the Empordà, Catalonia.

The residency is particularly well suited to practices that benefit from time, focused attention, contextual exchange and professional dialogue, especially those that do not depend on conventional production infrastructure.

The residency proposes pause as a working methodology, offering a framework for research, reflection and experimentation in which not everything needs to be resolved, produced or concluded.

Applications are welcome from artists, curators, writers, researchers, editors and interdisciplinary practitioners working across contemporary artistic and cultural fields. They particularly welcome research-led, conceptual, discursive or process-based practices.

This open call is addressed to individual practitioners only.

The residency includes:

  • accommodation with space suitable for living and working
  • local transportation support during the residency
  • round-trip travel from the participant’s place of residence (economy class)
  • insurance coverage during the residency
  • curatorial accompaniment and professional support by BAR project
  • connections with relevant practitioners, projects and institutions in the local context, Barcelona and across Catalonia
  • a residency stipend of 2,000 EUR gross
