Narva Art Residency: Residency for Nordic or Baltic Artists on ‘Sensing the Border’ (Estonia)

Title of the call on a photo of old and newer buildings beside a curving river and fields.

NART invites five Nordic or Baltic artists to explore the theme of borders and border landscapes through artistic interventions in Narva, a city at the visible edge between Estonia and Russia.

Each artist will focus on one of the five human senses—sight, hearing, touch, smell, or taste—transforming the geopolitical reality of the border into a multisensory experience to foster deeper understanding, sensitivity, and new perspectives beyond existing stereotypes.

2027 Residency periods:

  • 4 January–14 March
  • 26 April–4 July
  • 5 July–12 September
  • 13 September–21 November
  • 11 October–20 December

The 10-week residency is organised by the Narva Art Residency and funded by the Nordic Culture Point.

Professional artists permanently residing in Nordic or Baltic countries can apply: Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Åland, Latvia, or Lithuania. Artists from Estonia are not eligible. The programme is meant for individual artists working in any discipline, not only visual arts.
