The BUZZ Network, an EU project aiming at cross-pollinating youth theatre practice, is calling for professional youth theatre artists to participate in an Artists Training Lab at Youth Theatre Arts Scotland in Glasgow from 12-16 June 2023. The Art House and the Royal Over-Seas League international residency is for artists living and working in commonwealth (or former commonwealth) countries, the US, EU and EEA countries or Switzerland who have not yet exhibited or worked in the UK. The residency will take place over two months between September–November 2023.

British Council and Lakes International Comic Art Festival are offering two one-month fellowships in Arts, Event, and Festival Management during September 2023. This year the scheme is open to applicants from Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia.

This year, CROWD network will select ten dance artists to exchange and collaborate with the support of network partner organisations. Working in pairs, selected dance makers will come together twice, each time for a two-week, focused residency in a new context. Alongside the residencies, between June and October 2023, the entire network will engage in digital, discursive sessions exploring community engagement in dance. The programme is open to artists based in Denmark, England, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia (DE), or Scotland.

On the 28th/29th June 2023 Artsadmin and Art, Climate, Transition (ACT) will be co-hosting an international symposium exploring the intersections between contemporary performance, democratic participation, & environmental justice. This two-day symposium will be based at Toynbee Studios in London and sits alongside What Shall We Build Here festival.

This practice-based, interdisciplinary PhD studentship will draw on research from across the arts, humanities, science and technology to innovate novel approaches to the cultural negotiation of space science as a field of practice characterised by vertiginous scalar extremes and remote sensing technology. The studentship is available to Home and International (including EU) students. Provisional start date is 1 October 2023.

Led by one of the leading researchers in the field, the funded PhD opportunity Evidencing Value in Theatre for Young Audiences will engage with existing external partnerships (both local and international) to: a) generate evidence to develop, test and refine frameworks for understanding the value of TYA; and, b) close the gaps in the evidence for this value. The preferred start date is 18 September 2023.

The International Radio Playwriting Competition, hosted by BBC World Service and the British Council, offers the unique opportunity for playwrights to have their radio play heard across the world by the BBC World Service’s millions of listeners. Winners receive a cash prize, travel to London to attend an award ceremony, and see their plays recorded before they’re broadcast on the BBC World Service.

The New Real have announced a new AI Art commissioning opportunity for an established creative practitioner (or practitioners) to develop a new AI Art work that probes the uncanny interplay of humans and machines, and illuminates the social implications of recent developments in AI. The commission will take place across 2023 beginning in February, with work in progress at events in March and May, and culminating in the launch of the work produced in Edinburgh in Summer/Autumn 2023.

Arts researchers or practitioners living and working in the Caribbean are eligible to apply for the Bridget Jones Travel Award. The winner of the award will present their work at the 46th Society for Caribbean Studies Annual Conference, which is scheduled to be held in person from 5-8 July 2023 at the Stephen Lawrence Research Centre at De Montfort University in Leicester, England.

New Curators is a paid twelve-month curatorial training programme based in London for individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds. It will start in September 2023. International applicants requiring a visa to enter the UK must have an undergraduate degree awarded within the last three years or be currently enrolled on a degree-level course to meet the Tier 5 visa requirements.

Cove Park’s residencies support research, the development of existing and new projects, collaboration, interdisciplinary practice, and the production of new work and ideas. The next residencies will take place at Cove Park between 1 April 2023 - 31 March 2024, lasting 2-4 or 4-12 weeks.
