The programme is for artists working in the field of acoustic and time-based arts (radio, performance and sound artists).   • News / The Nature of Us: Open Call for Movement or Body-based Performance Projects (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary)

    The Nature of Us open call is aimed at artists working and living in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland or Slovakia who are working on a movement or body-based performance project in 2021 or 2022 that confronts art practices with concerns about the environment. Among other forms of support, the project offers a two-week artistic research session in Bratislava, Budapest, Gdansk, or Prague in the second half of 2021 or the first half of 2022.

  • News / French Institutes for Advanced Study Fellowship Programme (France)

    The French Institutes for Advanced Study Fellowship Programme offers 10-month fellowships in the five Institutes of Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier and Nantes. Artists holding a teaching or research position in an institution, and developing approaches at the intersection of art and science, are eligible for the FIAS call. Researchers from all countries are eligible for the programme but they have to have spent no more than 12 months in France during the three years prior to the application deadline. The next fellowships are for the 2022-23 academic year.

    Unsound Festival in Poland has announced its 2021 theme ‘dəəp authentic’ with a call for applications from artists, writers, theorists and activists, with a focus on presentations that blur the line between discourse and performance. Work can be presented in person in Krakow or remotely. The festival will take place between 13-17 October 2021.

All art works need to be conceptualised especially for minus20degree and will be presented in the village of Flachau, outside and at sites exposed to the elements. Temperatures might be as low as minus 20 degrees, but it can also rain.

    VV Foundation announces the inaugural PAiR residency open call for art, culture and humanities professionals active in various fields and roles – artists, curators, researchers, thinkers, writers and others – from Nordic and Baltic states. The PAiR programme will take place from 30 August – 31 October 2021 and will be dedicated to researching the surroundings and cultural-natural phenomena of the Lavian town of Pāvilosta.

  • News / TanzLabor Ulm: Commissions for Digital Dance Makers (Germany)

    TanzLabor – ROXY Ulm and Artistic Director Pablo Sansalvador are looking to commission five innovative ‘Digital Dance Makers’ to create five varied short choreographic works of 5-8 minutes. The movement of each of the Digital Dance Makers will be recorded through Motion Capture technology. This content will then be transformed into Augmented Reality, allowing each of the Digital Dance Makers to be visible and present within a larger dance installation performance called Tanz mit dem Tiger under the Artistic Direction of Pablo Sansalvador.

    What’s next? Co-organised by Institut Català de Les Empreses Culturals - Catalan Arts and Institut Ramon Llull, in collaboration with the Temporada Alta Festival and the Girona City Council, IETM’s next Satellite Meeting will be held from 25-27 November 2021 in Girona, and invite a collective reflection on how we can build on what we have learned and think of new ways to reposition the arts as a relevant agent for social change.     Earth Water Sky environmental science and arts residency programme are looking for an artist from any discipline who is truly inspired by thinking about time and connecting the geology of our Earth to humankind. The artist must also enjoy the research process as well as public engagement and be able to create imaginative, extraordinary new work which captures the public’s attention, senses, minds and hearts. The selected artist will undertake a two-month residency, after which they can bid for a production fund to realise a full artwork.

  • News / Production Research Grants for Art-Science-Technology Projects (Spain)

    The Institut Ramon Llull, New Art Foundation, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), La Caldera and Hangar open a call for five grants for the production-research of artistic pieces in the field of the confluence between art, science and technology. The development of the projects will have the means, advice and workspace of the Hangar Interaction Lab in Barcelona, Spain. The development of the projects will have, optionally, a residency process and/or advice in one of the research centers attached to the call through Hac Te. Artists, researchers and developers of any age and nationality can apply for these grants. Dates for activities vary but take place within 2021.
