    News / S+T+ARTS4Water: Open Call for Ten Thematic Residencies on Technology and Water

    STARTS4Water Consortium invites artists to apply for one of the ten residencies that are being launched by its European partners. This call is looking for artists to contribute to the sustainable management of water in a variety of ways through experimental use of and/or critical reflection on digital technologies.

    News / on-the-fly: Live Coding Research Residencies (Spain, Germany, Slovenia, Netherlands)

    The Creative Europe project on-the-fly will award three grants to develop research projects involving live coding practices. The residencies will be hosted by one of the partner institutions: Hangar, ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Creative Coding Utrecht, and Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory. Each residency will last between 3 weeks and 1 month. The time-periods will depend on the needs of the project as well as the place where they are carried out.

    The European project Intimate Bridges is a collaboration with theatre companies and civil society organisations that tries to bridge the gaps between refugee/migrant and local communities. An international conference is being organised on 14 September 2021 in Athens to present Intimate Bridges, and companies with similar projects (or intentions to start them) are invited to apply to participate.

    National, regional and international journalists are invited to visit the project Centriphery (21-25 July 2021), implemented in Romania by Prin Banat Association as part of the 2021 programme of Moving Fireplaces – a project focusing on memories and recent history of migration in the Banat region (Romania, Serbia and Hungary). International cultural journalists, art writers and critics, bloggers, working for online or offline magazines, newspapers, radio, television or other types of media can apply.

    Within the framework of the long-term project Visual Arts (V.A.) Initiator of Eleusis 2023 European Capital of Culture, Delta Pi announces an open call for artists from the field of visual arts in public space (installation, video art, performance, sculpture, etc.).     (Re)activating Common Urban Imaginaries is a pluri-disciplinary nomadic residency programme exploring sound, memory and trans-Mediterranean resonances. There will be three week-long creative residencies: Athens, November 2021; Alexandria, January 2022; Marseille, March 2022. Applications are open to individuals engaged in the study, protection or production of collective urban memory who reside in EU and a number of neighbouring countries.

    The Caravan Residency Programme is a year-long multi-city residency that invites artists, cultural practitioners, and activists to articulate and configure new modes of relating to and understanding urban, infrastructural, and social processes and formations. Residency activities take place from October 2021 – July 2022. Applications are open to emerging to mid-career artists in any discipline who reside in EU and a number of neighbouring countries.

  • News / Goethe-Institut: READ Residency Programme (North Macedonia, Albania, Turkey, Serbia, Kosovo)

    READ - Regional Network for Cultural Diversity's residency programme is aimed at writers, translators, playwrights, poets, illustrators, graphic novel artists and comic book writers. Eligible applicants will have published at least two books/works of their own or at least two translations, and must be residents of one of the following countries: North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Albania or Kosovo. Young and emerging authors are welcomed as well as established and experienced ones. Residencies last up to a month and will take place from May – December 2021.

  • News / MUSE.ar: Open Call for Artists to Explore New Narratives for Museums (Czech Republic, Serbia, Hungary)

    The aim of the international MUSE.ar project is to create a platform that will allow cultural institutions to connect with contemporary artists and collaborate to create digital guides. The organisers are now looking for three groups of artists and creatives who will work with the visions of partner institutions to co-create new digital narratives during residencies at three partner museums in Czech Republic, Serbia and Hungary. Project activities run from May 2021 to June 2022. Europe-based artists with a high level of proficiency in English are eligible to apply.

    The Summer Sessions are short-term international art and technology residencies for emerging artists and designers. Artists and designers working with art and technology are eligible to apply if they are under the age of 35 and/or have graduated within the past five years, and live in a country where there is a Summer Sessions sponsoring partner (Netherlands, Taiwan, Spain, Austria, Russia, China, South Korea, Croatia and Belgium). Each Summer Sessions residency lasts approximately eight weeks and takes place between July and September.

    News / Room to Bloom: Open Call for Young Artists with a Feminist, Ecological and/or Postcolonial Art Practice (Online / Italy, Ukraine, Poland, Greece)

    The Room to Bloom platform will collectively select a group of 100 emerging feminist artists to participate in a mix of trainings, workshops and talks throughout the year. Programme activities run mostly online June - November 2021. Selected participants will also be offered the possibility to propose works for production (15 works selected) later this year, to be presented during international events and exhibitions (Palermo, Kyiv Biennale, Warszawa Biennale, AthenSyn Festival).

    As a member of the international collaboration A-Place, LOOP (a platform dedicated to the study and promotion of the moving image) will commission a video production to investigate the process of creating a sense of place in one of the six cities participating in the project (Barcelona, Bologna, Brussels, Lisbon, Ljubljana and Nicosia).     News / International public space performance workshop – A Beloved Enemy: Open call (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

    Studio Teatar and LOOP, would like to invite you to take part in an international public space performance workshop – A Beloved Enemy. The participants will explore the use of public space as a habitat of art, and as an environment for artistic articulation of the public discourse through methods that place language of theatre, body movement and artists themselves at the heart of the urban fabric of the city. Topics such as democracy, public life and art will be fundamental in the research of the workshop.
