- China Residencies: Open Call for Online Residency, ‘Digital Diasporas’ (Online / Remote)
Digital Diasporas is a remote, online residency that will be facilitated by three host organisations in Canada, Australia and China between mid-October to mid-December 2021. Applications are open for artists, collectives and curators who self-identify and find it useful to gather under a ‘Chinese and Chinese diaspora’ cohort.
- The Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture: Cultural and Creative Industry Project Advisor (Latvia)
The Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) is an initiative focusing on the improvement of operating conditions for cultural and creative industries. The activity area covers 11 countries: Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany. NDPC are offering a full-time position of a Cultural and Creative Industry Project Advisor at the NDPC Secretariat in Riga.
- Kunstpavillon and Neue Galerie Innsbruck: Open Call for Dancing at the Edge of the World (Austria)
From November 2021 to August 2022, five exhibition projects will be realised under the theme of 'Dancing at the Edge of the World' at the Kunstpavillon and the Neue Galerie Innsbruck. Concrete projects (solo or group exhibitions), newly developed site-, context- and research-based projects, as well as existing ones can be submitted. There are no limits set on the artistic and curatorial formats and media used.
- ThoughtWorks Arts: Improvising the Net(work) Residency (USA / Remote)
ThoughtWorks Arts, a global technology research lab, and CounterPulse, an experimental and interdisciplinary dance and performance space in San Francisco, are partnering to launch a new artistic residency opportunity working with a customisable network on-site at CounterPulse’s facility in downtown San Francisco. This sixteen week residency is open to artists and collectives and will run from 27 September 2021 – 4 February 2022. It can be undertaken in person or remotely.
- French Institutes for Advanced Study Fellowship Programme (France)
The French Institutes for Advanced Study Fellowship Programme offers 10-month fellowships in the five Institutes of Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier and Nantes. Artists holding a teaching or research position in an institution, and developing approaches at the intersection of art and science, are eligible for the FIAS call. Researchers from all countries are eligible for the programme but they have to have spent no more than 12 months in France during the three years prior to the application deadline. The next fellowships are for the 2022-23 academic year.
- Unsound Festival: Open Call for ‘dəəp authentic’ (Poland / Remote)
Unsound Festival in Poland has announced its 2021 theme ‘dəəp authentic’ with a call for applications from artists, writers, theorists and activists, with a focus on presentations that blur the line between discourse and performance. Work can be presented in person in Krakow or remotely. The festival will take place between 13-17 October 2021.
- Stanley Greene Legacy Prize and Fellowship for Early Career Visual Storytellers
The one-year fellowship under the stewardship of Stanley’s colleagues at NOOR includes training, grant-writing support, and networking with media industry leaders to open pathways for the fellow’s work to reach wider international audiences. Applicants should be from or based in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova Poland, Romania, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, or Uzbekistan.
- Ginko Bioworks: Ginkgo Creative Residency for Art and Synthetic Biology (USA / Remote)
A joint initiative spearheaded and curated by Ginkgo Bioworks and design agency Faber Futures, the Ginkgo Creative Residency (GCR) provides an experimental platform for creative thinkers to explore both the potential and implications of synthetic biology. The next residency will run from 1 September – 30 November 2021, and can take place in-person or remotely.
- minus20degree: Open Call for Sound Art, Videoart, Performance, Theatre, Installation, or Dynamic Land Art (Austria)
minus20degree (m20d), an initiative that promotes art and architecture from around the world, is looking for artists in the field of sound art, videoart, performance, theatre, installation, or dynamic land art. All art works need to be conceptualised especially for minus20degree and will be presented in the village of Flachau, outside and at sites exposed to the elements. Temperatures might be as low as minus 20 degrees, but it can also rain.
- VV Foundation: Pair Residency for Art, Culture and Humanities Professionals from Nordic-Baltic States (Latvia)
VV Foundation announces the inaugural PAiR residency open call for art, culture and humanities professionals active in various fields and roles – artists, curators, researchers, thinkers, writers and others – from Nordic and Baltic states. The PAiR programme will take place from 30 August – 31 October 2021 and will be dedicated to researching the surroundings and cultural-natural phenomena of the Lavian town of Pāvilosta.
