Located in the heart of Jutland, Riddergade AIR is an artistic platform where visual artists can develop and immerse themselves in their artistic practice while strengthening their network. With Riddergade AIR, Viborg Kunsthal offers artists excellent workshop facilities and assistance for tasks of a practical and artistic nature, as well as access to a wide local, national and international network.
Riddergade AIR also creates links between residents and Danish artists, facilitating new opportunities for international development of the Danish contemporary art scene.
Successful applicants will receive a three-month residency with:
-
Access to workshop facilities (possible to apply for either a residency in a graphic workshop (printshop) or studio).
-
A room in a 250m2 villa a few minutes walk from Viborg Art Hall with direct access to the Viborg Islands.
-
A grant of 18,000 DKK (~2400 EUR) as a subsidy for materials, living and travel costs.
-
Opportunities for professional collaboration and exchange with the art gallery’s staff, local artists, curators and other actors.
-
Access to a network of local volunteer hosts, who help organise excursions as well as give an introduction to the local area.
In return, residents are expected to:
-
Hold one or more events during their stay (e.g. an artist talk or a presentation / open studio with the opportunity to meet the artist).
-
Participate in the vibrant and creative art environment around Viborg Kunsthal, and participate in events held by the art hall during their stay.
-
Be curious and want to participate in the local and national community and arts environment.
-
Take other artists into consideration throughout the residency, as there will be periods where there are several artists living together in the same villa.
