Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS), operated by a division of The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, offers artist-in-residence programmes for international creators working in various creative fields to stay, engage in creation and conduct research activities in Tokyo.
There are currently three residency programmes that support artist mobility:
- International Creator Residency Programme: Individual Projects (3-month residencies)
- International Creator Residency Programme: Theme Projects (3-month residencies)
- The Curator Residency Programme (1–3-month residencies)
There is also a Research Residency Programme that offers accommodation for shorter residencies.
Each programme has a different time periods in 2025 and 2026, eligibility requirements and presentation requirements, so refer to their website for details.
For International Creator Residency Programmes, TOKAS Residency offers living space, airfare, living expenses (3,500 JPY/day), and a fee for creative work/project (300,000 JPY), as well as shared studio space.
For the Curator Residency Programme TOKAS provides living space, airfare, and fee for the research/project (100,000 JPY).
