State Of The Art Network: ‘Living Water’ Workshop at Maajaam (Estonia)

Two artists crouched on a rock at the river's edge. One is scooping something out of the water. Behind them wooden planks and poles are leaned up against each other - makeshift instruments.

SOTAN members and other participants are invited to take part in a workshop (12-14 August 2022) that introduces the project ‘Living water’ by the artist duo of Aly Ogasian and Claudia O’Steen. The artists will introduce their methods on creating the artwork Living water for the outdoor exhibition Wild Bits in the wild nature of South Estonia.

The workshop and artwork that the artists will be working on examines the human impact on the Elva river in Estonia and the ways in which the river impacts the surrounding landscape. Participants will conduct extensive fieldwork near the river, developing a series of site-responsive, portable sculptures that function as observational stations/instruments.

Costs covered are: international and local travel, accommodation, food, materials.
