The Salzburger Kunstverein, a leading organisation in Central Europe for producing and exhibiting international and Austrian contemporary art, has announced two calls: one for the 2021 SpallArt Prize Salzburg, and one for the centre’s curator-in-residence programme.
The SpallArt Prize Salzburg is an international award for excellence in contemporary photography. Sponsored by SpallArt, the SpallArt Prize Salzburg consists of a €4000 prize and a residency and solo exhibition at the Salzburger Kunstverein.
Applicants for the Prize must be practicing artists who work with photography and who have a significant professional practice (i.e. exhibitions in contemporary art institutions). Applications must be accompanied by a recommendation from a recognised art professional (professors, artists, art critics or curators / directors of museums, galleries, Kunstvereine, or other public art institutions).
The curator-in-residence programme offers a studio-apartment in the historic Künstlerhaus in central Salzburg to curators for one month, 1-30 March 2021. Resident curators are provided time and space to develop independent projects. He or she may conduct research or writing pertinent to their interests. Use of the SKV library and partner specialist libraries may be arranged. Networking opportunities, including studio visits and meetings with professionals, will be offered. A stipend is provided along with the fully equipped studio-apartment.
