Residency Vishni: ‘Artists in the Local Community’ for Artists and Cultural Practitioners from the Western Balkans (North Macedonia)

Residency Vishni, located in the village of Vishni near the city Struga in the Ohrid region of North Macedonia, is calling for applications from artists and cultural practitioners from the Western Balkans working across disciplines and at various stages in their career, interested in developing collaboration with the local community members within their practice.

In 2024 three, two-week residencies hosting three artists each are planned, in May, July and September.

Residency Vishni is a newly established residency through the collaboration between two non-profit art organisations: INCA (Struga, North Macedonia) and Mini Pogon (Belgrade, Serbia). The project is supported by Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans (CC4WBs), a project funded by the European Union that aims to foster dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the cultural and creative sectors for increased socio-economic impact.

The goals of the residency include increasing the potential for participatory art practices that can contribute to the local community cohesion, fostering cultural exchange among local artists and artists from Western Balkan region, creating socially and ecologically responsible production, and aspiring to positive change for the communities of the UNESCO-protected natural and cultural heritage in Ohrid region.

What is offered:

  • Pre-residency support (in the preparation of the residential stay)
  • Travel, accommodation and food expenses
  • Production support (200 EUR)
  • Work, meeting and presentation space
  • Two public presentations
  • Collaboration with the community members of the Vishni village and cultural practitioners from the Ohrid region.
