Prostor is calling for applications from Europe-based emerging and mid-career curators for their five-week Curator-in-Residence Programme in Split, Croatia, from 12 August to 16 September 2024.
The aim of the programme is to contribute to the internationalisation of the local art scene, by provoking it and empowering it at the same time, and bringing different and innovative perspectives. The residency is organised under the programme line ‘Deviations’ and the curator is invited to respond to this theme.
The term can refer to the departure from the established directions in different contexts, but also the relationship between the centre and the periphery.
The selected curator will spend five weeks in Split, undertaking research and making connections and exchanges with the local community and art scene, through organised networking sessions and studio visits and by participating in public events, with the opportunity to organise an exhibition.
The curator will present their practice to the public in a form of a presentation/open lecture. The residency will result in an exhibition (visiting curator will invite up to 5 local and/or international artists to produce new or existing artworks)
