The mission of Prince Claus Fund is to support, connect and honour artists and cultural practitioners in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe, especially where cultural expression is under pressure. They believe in the transformative power of culture and its potential to drive societal change. The Fund stimulates cultural expression and creates opportunities for connection and exchange, and supports societally engaged artists and cultural practitioners through a sequence of Awards given at crucial stages of creative careers. Their aim is to promote growth, experimentation and sustainability in creative practices across the globe.
The Programmes Team consists of four people including the Programme Officer. Together the team implements the flow of the three Awards and ensures a smooth and transparent selection process.
As Programme Officer you will be working closely with all other members in the Programmes Team to implement the Awards cycles. You will do this by administering the different processes, joining in from conceptualisation of open calls to the selection of recipients, conducting scouting, research and outreach in the working regions of the Fund, and assisting in the organisation of meetings, workshops and jury sessions. As Programme Officer you will contribute to the effective implementation of the three Awards cycles, amongst others by:
- Administering open calls.
- Conducting in-depth research into applicants and nominations.
- Scouting for possible nominators, applicants and partners.
- Corresponding with applicants and awards recipients.
- Assisting in the organisation of in-person and online workshops and meetings.
- Contributing to the development of both existing and new programmes.
- Helping keep track of developments and research in the field of culture and development and societal developments that might influence the work of the Fund.
By joining the Programmes Team, you will gain extensive knowledge about and connection to the Fund’s global network of artists, thinkers, cultural organisations and collaborators. You will be working within a dynamic organisation and team, doing inspiring and meaningful work. The Fund’s office is in Amsterdam and employs around 25 people in total. Due to interns, volunteers and freelancers, this number varies, but the permanent team consists of 15 employees. It is a horizontal team with an informal and pleasant working atmosphere and a great social and cultural involvement.
The aim is to fill this position as soon as possible, depending on availability. Prince Claus Fund offers a gross monthly salary of between €2200 and €2444 depending on knowledge and experience and a one-year contract for 36 hours a week, with the possibility of an extension after the first year.
