Initiated in 2004, PACT’s yearly interactive symposium IMPACT invites artists, practitioners, theoreticians and advanced students from the fields of dance, theatre, performance, visual arts, new media, film, music, architecture and other extended practices in art and science, to engage with various research interests, working methods and artistic strategies. IMPACT23 will take place from 8-12 November 2023 with the theme ‘Ecologies of Attention’.
In the interactions between humans, animals, plants, and things, in ecosystems and in the technosphere, pervasive patterns of perception are at work. Such patterns are influenced by assumptions, interests, projections, framings, and selections. What powerful phenomena, forces, connections and exchange relations remain hidden or obscured as a result? What methods, tools, strategies, or systems are required to reevaluate these connections and foster productive relationships? Which ingrained patterns need to be disrupted?
IMPACT23 provides space for transdisciplinary approaches and the creation of solidarity connections that can enable alternative ecologies of attention.
With the call for proposals, the organisers welcome suggestions, ideas and possibilities for action arising from artistic, social, physical, technological, and ecological practices, whether actual or speculative, that engage with various forms of appreciating complex processes and making them visible. The call is aimed at practitioners and theorists from the fields of the performing and visual arts, science, journalism, technology, activism, social work and architecture.
The four-day symposium is based on the selected contributions and is complemented by keynote lectures, workshops and artistic interventions. Participants receive a remuneration of 250€, travel costs, and accommodation.
