Mapping Festival is organised by PPING, a Geneva-based non-profit cultural association. Its goal is to promote the audiovisual, technological and transdisciplinary arts on the French-speaking part of Switzerland and to make them known internationally.
The festival currently has three open calls for its 2023 edition:
- Exhibition: This call is looking for artistic projects and workshops that question the role of new technology in a society that is characterised by a post-truth paradigm that needs to be challenged.
- Lowtech: How to continue to create technological arts in a time where the energy and climate crises encourage more sobriety, and profound changes in our behaviour? Mapping Festival seeks artistic and unusual projects that fit into a low-tech philosophy.
- Syllepse: Syllepse is a 22 meters diameter tank installed in the Jardin des Nations in Geneva. It is equipped with 24 video projectors on its curved walls and ceiling, which allow a 360° projection for a resolution of 15’000 X 2000 pixels. The tank is also equipped with a 32-speaker ambisonic system that further enhances the spectacular experience. This space is available for the presentation of new works, with selected projects eligible for a creation and research residency.
Applicants submit a production budget during the application process.
