Open call for Eastern European Music Academy (Online / Slovenia)

Eastern European Music Academy

Music Export Ukraine is pleased to announce the open call for the second iteration of the Eastern European Music Academy – a hybrid capacity building project that helps independent music professionals from Eastern and Central Europe, as well as the Baltic region. The Academy is going to start on 30 September 2023 and will last for 12 weeks online. Every week, students will meet with internationally renowned experts, and gain knowledge on the business side of music.

Learning will take place:

  • Online: The classes of the academy take place online, in English, every week on Saturdays between 10:00 and 12:00 CET, followed by consultations with experts on Thursdays between 19:00 and 20:30 CET.
  • In-person: Ten successful students of the Academy will have the opportunity to travel to MENT Ljubljana, one of the leading showcase festivals and music conferences in Central and Eastern Europe. The event is an excellent opportunity for students to apply the knowledge they will gain during the digital sessions, meet each other in-person, and connect to the wider European music community. Costs of participation will be covered by the organisers.

The number of places for the Academy is limited to 50. Eligibility criteria:

  • Independent music professionals in Eastern and Central Europe, as well as the Baltic region.
  • Young people between 18 and 30 years old (a 10% quota for candidates in other age groups is available).
  • With a strong motivation to advance their career in the music industry and grow their professional network.

Selected applicants will be asked to contribute with a participation fee of 100 EUR as a co-funding measure, but several scholarships are available to cover the participation fee for those who would otherwise not be able to participate.
