Room empty of people with desks, computers and other equipment.
Production Lab / Credits: Jasmin Gritzka

For the interdisciplinary playground HELP! at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Sustainability Theater Lab of the ligeti cente aims to initiate four international tandem collaborations. Each project will pair an HfMT student with an international artist.

HELP! will focus on questions of life and survival in the 21st century. The role of theatre will be explored against the backdrop of key challenges such as climate change, species extinction, the rise of right-wing extremism, social inclusion, and food and energy security.

The project work period starts in July 2024 and continues until December 2024. The presentation will take place between 5 and 8 December 2024, at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg in a hybrid format.

All artists can apply individually or as a tandem with an HfMT student. For individual applications, the Sustainable Theater Lab will pair an HfMT student with an international artist. The project welcomes applications from students of all HfMT programmes and from artists in fields such as (musical) theatre, dance, composition, multimedia art, set design, creative writing, and more. They also welcome perspectives from outside Central Europe.

The programme offers:

  • 4,000 EUR per tandem (including taxes), that can be used for any part of the project, such as honorariums, material or travel costs
  • Curatorial support for the project
  • Visibility during the presentation at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg
