The ISSP Riga Residency provides an opportunity for concentrated work on a personal project informed by interaction with Riga and its residents (or elsewhere in Latvia), or much needed time to rethink and complete ongoing work. Applications are welcome from photographers, artists and curators interested in exploring the local social and cultural context and connecting to the ISSP platform of activities.
The residency programme is open for photographers, artists and curators working with photography. In 2022, two selected artists resident in a Nordic or Baltic country (Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Åland, Estonia, Lithuania) will be awarded a Nordic Culture Point scholarship – 500 EUR stipend, residency stay free of charge and covered travel costs to Riga. ISSP provide a private room in a comfortable residency apartment in the center of Riga (3-bedroom apartment), shared with 2 other artists.
There is one spot available in December 2021, and then places from January to June 2022. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, ISSP recommend longer stays of 2-3 calendar months. Stays of 1 month can still be possible, however, depending on the individual preferences and residency schedule.
