GuestRoomMaribor: Visual and Interdisciplinary Artist Residency Programme (Slovenia)

A surface of water, with ripples playing across it.

The GuestRoomMaribor residency programme invites visual and interdisciplinary artists to apply for residencies in Maribor, Slovenia in the year 2021. There are several dates available for one-month funded residencies in spacious studios, in the quiet courtyard of the Vetrinj mansion located in the strict centre of Maribor, including the possibility of presenting the newly created production in the Gallery K18.

GuestRoomMaribor is a programme developed by the non-governmental organisation Pekarna Magdalenske mreže, which has been offering residences for Slovenian and international artists in Maribor since 2011. With an emphasis on contemporary visual art practices, the program primarily supports socially engaged, hybrid, and experimental projects as well as projects related to the local social, cultural, historical, or political context. In its mode of operation, the program seeks to foster creative processes, open dialogue, establish direct contact with local communities, question conventional presentations of art, and encourages collaboration with local artists and producers.
