Ferrara Off is calling for applications from performing arts companies/artists for their OFFline Call to support new productions with artistic residencies in Ferrara, Italy.

This year’s OFFline Call has two sections:

Residency

Ferrara Off is looking for companies and artists to host in residence at its spaces. The residences can have a variable duration from 8 to 15 days depending on the objectives, the content, the scenic language and the people involved. At the end of the residency period, a presentation open to the public is required. During the residency periods, companies and artists will be asked to be available to carry out audience development actions, such as meetings with students, short training sessions, conversations with the public at the theatre or in other places in the city.

Preference will be given to companies and artists under 35 (80% under 35 in the case of collectives/companies).

Ferrara Off offers:

  • free use of the theatre hall for the agreed period (8–15 days) for a minimum of 6 hours and a maximum of 8 hours per day in time slots to be defined with the Ferrara Off organisational secretariat
  • technical equipment of the theatre
  • accommodation
  • tutoring and artistic support
  • a moment of technical support during the residency
  • financial support for production: 800 EUR – 1,500 EUR including all legal taxes (in case of specific needs, fees can contribute towards travel costs)
  • online and press communication activities

BONSAI Festival

Ferrara Off is looking for companies and artists to entrust with a part of the BONSAI Festival programming, which will be held in spring–summer 2025. Although the Festival is predominantly theatrical, the proposed micro-review can host different genres. Each candidate is asked to propose a programme with three events (possibly consecutive), including their own show and two productions by other companies/artists they know.

Preference will be given to companies and artists under 35 (80% under 35 in the case of collectives/companies).

Ferrara Off offers:

  • hospitality for artists and technicians involved in the micro-review
  • technical equipment of the theatre
  • conceptual, logistical and organisational support
  • budget for the event between 2,000 EUR and 5,000 EUR + VAT (in case of specific needs, fees can contribute towards travel costs)
  • online and print communication activities
