European Investment Bank Institute > Artists Development Programme Residencies

The Artists Development Programme (ADP) is a residency and mentorship programme in Luxembourg organised by the European Investment Bank Institute. The ADP offers emerging European visual artists under the age of 35 the opportunity to develop their practice in a high quality professional context without any material constraints. It involves the creation of an art project under the mentorship of an internationally renowned artist – for 2020, Finnish photographer Jorma Puranen – during a residency of 6-8 weeks. The mentors provide an exceptional tutoring and networking opportunity for young artists, while the exhibition of works from the project at the EIB premises adds the credibility of an established setting.

There are currently three open calls for residencies to take place between early May and end of June 2020:

  • Thematic Residency, ‘Disruption: the imprint of man’ – for one visual artist of EU nationality.

  • Thematic Residency, ‘(De)Construction of History’ – for one visual artist of EU nationality.

  • Geographical Residency – for two visual artists from Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

For all three residencies, applicants should be born after 1 January 1985, and be fluent in English.

For each of the three residencies, supported artists receive:

  • A living/working space.

  • Travel costs to and from Luxembourg (for the residency), and to and from Jorma Puranen’s studio (before the start of the residency).

  • EUR 100 flat-rate daily allowance intended to cover subsistence costs and all or part of production costs.

  • At the beginning of the residency, a production grant of EUR 500. At the end of the residency, a further fee of EUR 1000, provided that the artist has produced a work or body of works.

Upon completion of the residency, the EIB might consider acquiring an artwork produced on-site from the artist.
