The ‘Culture without borders’ programme is intended for young artists in various sectors who are interested in actively engaging in joint artistic projects and establishing and developing cultural ties. The working languages are Serbian, Albanian and English.
The ‘Culture without borders’ programme consists of three related actions:
- Intercultural exchange is an educational study trip for 16 young artists that will take place from 22 March to 1 April 2024 in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Pristina, and Prizren. Participants will attend lectures by relevant experts, participate in inspiring conversations with established artists, visit cultural institutions and connect with cultural workers. During the study visit artists will work with the mentor on the conception of artworks.
- Creative Colony is a five-day workshop where artists will be able to focus on creating works of art with provided funds and the help of mentors. The budget is limited and will be worked out during the workshop.
- Local exhibitions of works of art will be realised in Belgrade, Pristina and one another city.
The programme was designed by The Helsinki Committee for the Human Rights in Serbia and since 2023 it has been implemented in cooperation with ArtPolis from Pristina, and with the financial support of the European Union.
Applicants must be 18 to 35 years of age and they must be an unestablished or insufficiently established artist. They must also have knowledge of at least two working languages of the programme, including one as a mother tongue.
The organisers cover the costs of participation, including travel expenses, accommodation, food and refreshments, and visits to cultural institutions.
