Co-Crea: LINK – Urban Art Festival 2024 Participatory Design Project (Italy)

Text of the call on a coloured background.

Co-Crea project is calling for proposals from artists or a team of artists who want to submit urban art projects, new muralism, art installations, urban design works or tactical urbanism, for a project in Brescia, Italy.

Through ‘Co-Create Creative Courtyards’ the project intends to implement a participatory design process, with which to activate and involve the residents of the four public housing complexes in Via Morosini located in the Primo Maggio neighbourhood in Brescia.

The open call intends to solicit proposals for projects of visual and functional transformation of the space, configuring a real relational space between the works that will be created, the residential context and the people who live there.

Co-Crea is a project of the True Quality Association in partnership with the Manolibera Cooperative, funded by Fondazione Cariplo and with contributions from Zincatura Bresciana, DVArea and Franchi&Kim paints.

The open call is open to all and is international, however, to facilitate co-design with neighbourhood residents it is essential to speak and write Italian fluently.

The selected projects will be invited to carry out an initial residency period of 2–6 days, in which to get to know the site, make the necessary surveys and meet the inhabitants and material suppliers in the period from 19 August to 7 September. Artistic productions (CATEGORY A) must be realised by the end of September 2024 and artistic/architectural productions (CATEGORY B) shall be realised and placed on site no later than the end of November 2024.

The organisers will provide the winners of the call with a budget to cover the costs of materials (2,350 EUR gross) and accommodation.
