The annual light festival in Jyväskylä, Finland is seeking temporary light installations and artwork (mainly for outdoors) to be shown in the 18th City of Light event, 26–28 September 2024.
The call is open to all artists and artist groups in Finland and abroad. Artists can propose light artwork of different sizes and styles as part of the light festival.
As a new part of the call for works, the City of Jyväskylä is also launching a call for residency artists. The city is looking for two light artists to become acquainted with the city in September and to produce a site-specific (and possibly community-engaging) light art as part of the light festival.
The selected artists can utilise Jyväskylä’s history, areas, community, and other inspiring qualities in their work. One domestic and one foreign artist will be selected from the incoming applications.
Selected residency artists are offered a free accommodation and travel costs, and a maximum of 3,000 EUR for materials, rental luminaires and other costs to build the artwork.
