Cirkus Kolektiv: Outdoor Art Research Lab Residency 2025 (Croatia)

Three performers in public space, two holding the third up a wall with a photographer and an audience of 12 people.

Cirkus Kolektiv is calling for applications from artists and collectives working in contemporary circus and outdoor arts for their Outdoor Art Research Lab residency programme in Split, Croatia (March – April 2025), supported by Culture Moves Europe.

The residency programme seeks to foster outdoor exploration and creation within contemporary circus and outdoor arts. By focusing on public spaces and their specific contexts, the programme hopes to encourage a unique approach to artistic expression that is currently underrepresented in Croatia. The Outdoor Art Research Lab residency programme can foster a vibrant dialogue between artists, local communities, and the urban landscape, ultimately reimagining Split’s public spaces as places of connection and creativity.

The residency is primarily focused on exploration and experimentation. There is no requirement to create or premiere a final product. The goal is to provide artists with a space to delve into new ideas and encourage the development of an outdoor creation that directly refers to the performance space and is shaped by it.

Cirkus Kolektiv will cover travel expenses, accommodation, and a per diem of 25 EUR per day during the residency period including travel expenses, accommodation and fee for the Split Calling 2025 festival presentation (October 2025). In addition to this, each artist will receive 500 EUR of support for production costs. The selected artists/projects will also be submitted to available funding open calls to obtain more production cost support.
