Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism > Call for Proposals (South Korea)
The Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2021 (SBAU 2021) is launching an international call for proposals to identify the works that could be featured in the main exhibition of SBAU 2021. Titled ‘CROSSROADS Building the Resilient City', the biennale will attempt to respond to the complexity of the relationships that shape our cities and to the pivotal moment that humanity is facing by drafting, thanks to its contributions, a manifesto for a more sustainable city. SBAU 2021 will take place in Seoul from September to November 2021.
Proposals must consider, either discussing and/or challenging, the five intersecting figures of SBAU 2021 to nourish our vision of the city:
Crossroad 1 (c1) on urbanism: ABOVE / BELOW.
Crossroad 2 (c2) on architecture: HERITAGE / MODERN.
Crossroad 3 (c3) on design: CRAFT / DIGITAL.
Crossroad 4 (c4) on landscape: NATURAL / ARTIFICIAL.
Crossroad 5 (c5) on the city: SAFE / RISK.
This call for proposals wishes to bring together a great diversity of participants, not limited to professionals of the built environment. It is open to individuals, institutions or organisations, or cross-disciplinary teams. Team members may include but are not limited to: architects, designers, urban planners, landscapers, researchers, students (as a member of a team), writers, artists, critics.
The selected teams will receive an Artist Fee of USD 10,000 to realise their proposal. There is a first deadline to register interest on 30 June 2020, and then a second deadline for full proposals on 31 July 2020.
Deadline: 30 June 2020
