GMEA – National Centre for Music Creation of Albi-Tarn > Residency Programme 2021 (France)
The GMEA – National Centre for Music Creation of Albi-Tarn was founded in 1981. Among eight other centres in France, it is part of a network certified by the French Ministry of Culture. A leading organisation for musical creation in Occitanie, GMEA welcomes ensembles and musicians for rehearsals, research, experiments and recordings.
Open to all sound and experimental musical practices of our time, GMEA accompanies the emergence of new musical forms coming from written, improvised, instrumental, electroacoustic or electronic music. The centre will welcome musicians or ensembles from one to seven persons at a time for a residency session of five days. The residency will be arranged to take place between 4 January and 17 December 2021.
The aim is to permit creation, recording, or research. Throughout the residency, artists will enjoy technical, logistical and administrative support, and will have access to the centre’s network (artists, professionals, resource centres, broadcasting structures), which could be helpful for the development of their project.
The centre will provide a workspace and make a technical and administrative team available for the selected artists according to their needs. These residencies will take place in the GMEA facility (studios and rehearsal room), or on the premises of GMEA’s partners (Scène Nationale d’Albi, Maison de la Musique / Cap Découverte, Musée du Saut du Tarn, Ville d’Albi, Théâtre Le Colombier, Abbaye-école de Sorèze, etc.). The centre will cover the costs of travel for the artistic team to Albi (France and Europe), accommodation, and the team’s meal costs for the time of residency. Payment of an additional financial support for production could be considered depending on the project. During these residencies, a time for meeting and exchanging with audiences and schools could be organized.
Deadline: 31 May 2020
