Forecast > Interdisciplinary Mentorship Programme (Germany)

Forecast offers artists and creative thinkers from anywhere in the world the chance to work with accomplished mentors toward bringing their projects to fruition. Forecast transcends neatly defined disciplines and genres to provide insight into creative production processes, and carve out space for the questions on the minds of the next generation of trailblazers.

For each edition, Forecast selects six mentors of various disciplines who offer interested participants their expertise in specifying and realising their pioneering project ideas. The following mentors are participating in the fifth edition of Forecast: chef Manu Buffara (Brazil), curator Koyo Kouoh (Cameroon), writer and researcher Evgeny Morozov (Belarus), visual artist and theater director Markus Öhrn (Sweden), musician Du Yun (China), and photographer and filmmaker Tobias Zielony (Germany).

Following the open call, the mentors will select three concepts each. The 18 selected applicants – three for each mentor – are invited to Berlin to discuss their ideas and present them at the radialsystem during the Forecast Forum taking place 13-19 July 2020. At the end of the Forecast Forum, each of the six mentors selects one concept to accompany to its realisation over the following nine months. The outcomes of these collaborations will then be presented at the Forecast Festival, taking place at the radialsystem 9-10 April 2021, with set-ups and rehearsals starting on 6 April 2021.

Forecast will grant accommodation and travel costs, and provide infrastructure and space for your presentation at radialsystem. However, if you apply as a duo or collective, Forecast can cover travel and accommodation for only one member. Participation in the Forecast Forum is also recognised with a fee of up to 600 euro, plus production costs of up to 800 euro. Projects presented at Forecast Festival in April 2021 receive an artist fee of 8000 euro and a production budget of up to 10,000 euro.

Deadline: 1 March 2020
